Summary of the assigned duties: Under the supervision of the Chief of Section, the incumbent assists in planning,

organising and servicing the meetings of treaty bodies established to monitor the implementation of human rights instruments, in particular of the Human Rights Committee

established under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights Drafts and prepares pre-session, in-session and post-session documents, notes verbale, various communications to Committee members and States parties, notes and reports by Secretary-General, and portions of reports for submission to the General Assembly. Provides legal research and drafting assistance relating to the Human Rights Committee activities under the Optional Protocol to the Covenant.

Assists in planning, organising and servicing the meetings of the treaty bodies established to monitor the implementation of international human rights instruments, in particular the meetings of the Human Rights committee, including:

Preparation of pre-session documents, such as provisional agenda and annotations, notes and reports of the Secretary-

General.

Review and substantive editing of periodic reports submitted by States parties to the human rights

instruments.

Making arrangements for participation at the sessions, i.e. issuing invitations and ensuring the availability of

relevant documentation.

Drafting portions of annual reports to the General Assembly.
