Inside the restaurant the deceased was dining in a group of

about 18 men. WONG Wing-tim and the other petitioners entered the

room where the dinner was in progress and asked the whereabouts of

NGAU Chəng-laung, another debtor, and the man for whom WONG was really

locking.

NGAU was not at the dinner, and so CHG Wing-tin asked the

deceased to step cutside into the corridor for a discussion. All four

petitioners together with FU Sze-chau accompanied the deceased into

the caridor.

In the corridor WONG wing-tim asked the deceased fxs

repayment of the debt. The deceased said he had no money to repay but

WONG Wing-tim noticed money in his pocket to which he pointed. It transpired

that the deceased was going to use this money to set up a new gambling

syndicate, this being the purpose of the dinner that evening.

The deceased, apparently taking offence at WONG Wing-tim

rudely pointing his Zinger, punched WONG Wing-tin on his ear.

A fight then started. WONG Wing-tim called for the "account

book" which was obviously a pre-arranged code for the paper bag

containing a short knife. WONG Wing-tim was handed the "account book"

by CHAN Kan-sau. WONG then stabbed the deceased with the knife (which

was still in the paper bag).

The other petitioners joined in the struggle but only one

of them, CHAN Kan-cheung, was identified with a knife; he had been
