Thank you for your letter of 8 August to Pamela Major, whom I have just replaced in Hong Kong Department. I was informed by the Aviation and Maritime Department of the FCO that we are still maintaining our advice to British ships that they should not call at Monrovia. At present, there are no plans to withdraw this advice. You may wish to pass this onto the Hong Kong ship owners association.
