Malicious Publicity against Hong Kong
You will wish to know that we have been advised by the Hongkong Bank, the Swires and Jardines that they have received through the mail a "press release" which urges people to sell Hong Kong shares immediately because "the British government will soon be announcing a special deal with the government of the People's Republic of China, a deal which will render any investments you may hold in the Colony as worthless as Polly Peck shares". Copy of the "press release" is attached. While the release has no identification mark, the tactic reminds one of that of the Friends of Lorrain Osman.
We have filed a formal complaint with the Police and advised our media contacts as appropriate. We shall keep you informed of developments, if any.
