HONG KONG: BRIEFING THE SECRETARY OF STATE ON JLG WORK
1. I proposed that in order to keep the Secretary of State up to date on JLG work I would commission a fortnightly
telegram from Mr Galsworthy. I submit the first in this series outling the prospects for the JLG meeting in London
from 24 to 26 September.

discussion with Lu Ping on 17 September produced no surprises on JLG issues,
We will ensure that the Secretary of State is updated on any new points from the first day of the JLG before his meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister in New
York on 24 September.
