On ratification the UK plans to make the reservation permitted
by Article 16, para 2 and the declaration permitted by Article 20,
para 1, and to extend the reservation and declaration to Hong Kong.
6. The British side intend that Hong Kong should be included in
the UK's ratification or have the Convention extended to it shortly
afterwards. As this will create new IROS affecting Hong Kong, and
as it is considered appropriate that the Convention should continue.
to apply to the Hong Kong SAR after 1997, grateful if the Chinese
side would consider this matter in accordance with the agreed
consultation guidelines.
