The exporter shall develop such alternative plans as expeditiously as possible
after receiving notification of the rejection by the original State of import
the plan shall ensure final disposal of the hazardous wastes no later than 90
days after receipt of notification of rejection.
Part V Importing of Hazardous Wastes and Other Wastes
Three Alternatives
First Option: Total Prohibiton of Imports of hazardous wastes & Other Wastes:
The Regulatory Authority has to transmit this information to the Basel
Convention Secretariat.
Second option: Partial Prohibition of Imports of Hazardous Wastes & Other
Wastes:
1. The Regulatory Authority has to issue, within 60 days, a list of hazardous
wastes and other wastes permitted to be imported.
2.
The Regulatory Authority has to transmit this information to the Basel
Convention Secretariat.
Third Option: Import of Hazardous Wastes & Other Wastes:
the Regulatory Authority may consent in a written form to the importation of
hazardous wastes and other wastes providing the following conditions are met:
1. The exporting State must be a Party to the Basel Convention on the Control
of Transboundary movements of Hazardous Wastes and Their Disposal
2. The Regulatory Authority must be sure that the exporting State is not able
to dipose of such wastes within its own territories in an environmentally
sound manner
3. The Regulatory Authority must get a request for the transboundary movement
containing all the details of the shipment, from the generator or the
exporting State
