I refer to FCO telno 1200 to Hong Kong and other recent exchanges about the possibility of a new bilateral agreement on copyright protection between China and the UK.

I HKD's efforts to obtain a copy of it have been unavailing. wonder if you could help?

It occurs to me that in view of the importance of this new law to UK and Hong Kong commercial interests, and its relevance to the new agreement(s) we are considering, that a detailed assessment of the adequacy or otherwise of its provisions by a lawyer conversant with this field of law and with the needs of British and Hong Kong investors in China, would be of considerable value to us.
3. I regret that I am not equipped with the necessary specialised knowledge, myself; but happen to know that Peking's Honorary Legal Adviser, Jeanne-Marie Claydon Gescher, is. She is the most suitable person I can think of to advise
I wonder whether you might like to suggest to Peking that If she does, I should they ask her to prepare a paper for us? be grateful to receive a copy.
