Amendments to the Terms of Reference of Subsidiary Bodies

Existing Terms of Reference

Proposed Amended Terms of Reference

to advise IPFC on scientific matters relating to the development and rational utilization of the fish resources in the Indo-Pacific region. In particular:

(1)

SCORRAD

To advise IPFC on scientific matters

relating to the development and rational utilization of the fish resources in the Indo-Pacific region. In particular:

(a)

to advise on the state of resources and of the fisheries based on them;

(a)

to encourage research in the

field of biology, technology, socio-economics and related

disciplines; and

(c)

to encourage the improvement of national statistics in the

(2) IPFC Working Party on Aquaculture

to assist in the collection and dissemination of information on aquaculture research;

to promote and coordinate surveys on aquaculture and its potential for future development;

to promote and coordinate

studies of the economics of aquaculture covering the levels of the cost/benefit ratios and investment in different types of aquaculture in comparison with alternative uses of land and water, and the economics of different culture practices in relation to the most efficient utilization of capital investment;

to coordinate the FAO/IPFC Cooperative Programme of Research on Aquaculture; and

(c)
