Nr Li, our other minder, was middle aged and soft
He rang me just before we left for Chengde to tell
how he appreciated our company and asked whether I could
him a favour. I asked what it was he liked me to do.
He asked whether he could have a HK Social Welfare
Department tie. His daughter was studying design and would
very much like to see new designs. We ended up giving a
tie each to our minders.
