Mr John WOOD
John Wood was born in Mingaladon in Burma in

He
obtained his
England and
professional
qualifications
in
was admitted as Solicitor in 1955. He joined
the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP),

July 1985, he was appointed Deputy
Director and was overall in charge of all operational work,
especially serious murders and frauds
as well as having
responsibility for administration
of
the lawyers and
accountants in the Office.
He was
also Head of Legal

Services in the Crown Prosecution Service.
established the Serious Fraud Office in 1987 and, as its
Director, supervised the most complex cases.
1 September 1990 he was appointed DPP of Hong Kong.

He is the Vice-Chairman of the Business Crime
Committee of the Section on Business Law of the
International Bar Association and was one of the members of
Committee planning its Biennial Conference

1991 which was held in Hong Kong recently.

of Bath in 1989.
