JOINT LIAISON GROUP MEETING RESULTS IN A BLOCKADE
Sino-Portuguese Joint Liaison Group met in Lisbon, for his 9 th. plennary session, in the beggining of December.A final statement gave no details about the meeting, but diplomatic sources quoted by Expresso", a portuguese weeckly newspaper classified the situation as totaly blocked, with no results.

During this meeting, portuguese representants made a strong protest against what was considered a "boycot" to some big projects beeing developped in Macau. The same sources showed hope that the visit of chinese minister of Foreign Affairs Lisbon, sheduled for the first months of this year, can help to improve the situation.

Chinese delegation on the Land Group agreed about authorizing 33 more hectars of land concession, for 1990. This was half of the area requested by Macau's government.Sino-portuguese Joint Declaration says that every land concession over 20 hectars only can be done with the agreement of both sides, through the Land Group.

Few days before the meeting, which took place on December 20th the government announced a payment around 200 million patacas, receipts from land concessions, to the special fund for the future Special Administrative Region of Macao.
The problem of the calculs for costs and receipts of land concessions has been a matter of disagreement in the Land Group since 89. According to remarks from members of the chinese.. delegation, a solution was achieved in this last meeting.

STANLEY HO TAKES CONTROL OF MACAU JOCKEY CLUB

formed with STDM, Thomson Pacific,
Pacific, Pacific Concord, Lai Sum International and Kam Wick will spend 450 million patcas in buying 51 % of the shares of Macau Jockey Club. This takeover comes after Macau Jockey Club suspended the races, on December, following a court decision to seal the computer system, because of a complain from a local construction company, which claimed that MJC failled to pay 35 construction works on the grandsatnd building project.
