I have concluded that the leave earning rates are in fact now quite similar in the main grades where expatriates can be found. Expatriates still get more leave but, because they generally take annual leave, the actual amount of leave taken is similar. (By this I mean that expatriates may be eligible for, say, 55 days of leave every year if they only take the leave every 2 years, but if they take annual leave their entitlement is reduced to 45 days or 36 days depending on seniority, which is quite similar to the local levels). I have also noted with some concern that local officers at directorate point 4 and above seem now to be getting huge amounts of leave - even more than the expatriates.

To answer your question therefore, I do not think that the question of compensation will arise and therefore I trust that HMG will not be looked to by HMOCS officers.
