Mr Tom Cox (Tooting): To ask the Secretary of State for
the Home Department, if he will list the offences for which a person can be sentenced to death by courts in the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement.

The death penalty is still available for offences of
treason, piracy with violence and certain treasonable and
mutinous offences re-enacted under the Armed Forces
Act 1971.
