NEWSPAPER ARCHIVE RELATING TO HONG KONG
1. I saw Sir Denis Wright (former HMA Tehran) at dinner in Oxford on Friday. He told me that Clare Hollingworth, the Daily Telegraph journalist, had approach him about a possible UK home for an archive of Hong Kong and British newspaper cuttings over the period 1982-91 relating to the future of Hong Kong. The compiler of the archive was John Walden, former Director of Internal Affairs (?) in the Hong Kong government.
Mr Shad,
2.
Sir D Wright asked if I had any ideas. I undertook to pass on his enquiry. He said payment might be expected - but this was not at all clear.
3.
I promised to get back to him but should be happy for you to do so direct if you prefer ( grateful if you would let me know if you are doing so).
