I intend to held a small seminar on Hong Kong on
3 July and would very much welcome it if you were able to

join us. Participants will include Lord Caithness as well as myself and about half-a-dozen senior FCO
officials. We propose to invite a similar number of
people from outside the Office, including one or two MPs,
academics, journalists and businessmen like yourself with experience of and interest in Hong Kong.
The purpose of this seminar is to take a good look
at where we now stand in Hong Kong, and to examine what options we have in dealing with the problems which we will face over the next six years.
The seminar will take place at 1 Carlton Gardens from 1000 to 1130 on 3 July.
