1.
Lord Caithness found last night's dinner most enjoyable and stimulating. I am recording the main points separately. He would like to squeeze in another dinner on the same theme before the Heads of Mission Conference. This will take place on 10 July at Admiralty House. The Minister would like to restrict guests to businessmen and financiers. We should aim for a total of 12 at table. The Minister suggests we might include representatives from ICI, BP, Cable and Wireless, Balfour-Beatty, the CBI and DTI. He would like to invite Lord Limerick (Kleinwort) who told the Minister recently that he could produce evidence that the French and Germans give more financial support to their exporters than we do. Lord Caithness thinks that we should also try and identify a British company that does not presently have links with the region but might be persuaded by the dinner conversation to branch out.
2.
Grateful for a draft guest list.
