Dear Mr Paul,
Thank you for your fax letter yesterday. I am writing to confirm the telephone message I left at your office yesterday in your absence.
I shall be happy to participate in the seminar on Hong Kong which the Foreign Secretary will be chairing on the morning of Wednesday 3 July. This is indeed a very opportune time to review the issues and options involved.
I leave for London tonight and will in fact be on holiday at Shrubland Hall, a "health farm" near Ipswich, for a week from Sunday. If for any reason you need to contact me before the seminar, I can be reached there by telephone on (0473) 830404 or by fax on (0473) 832641.
I shall come up from Ipswich by train on Wednesday morning and, British Railways willing, will be at Carlton Gardens by 1000. Since I shall have been on a total fast for three days, you will have to excuse me if my contribution is somewhat below par. However, lack of food may help to concentrate the mind!
I look forward to seeing you again next Wednesday.
Yours sincerely,
Charles Magkay
