CONCERN TO MEMBERS OF HMOCS

л

Mr. Myrin

Amendment

A

Problem

1.

Who should reply, and how, to a letter to the Minister of State from the Chairman of the Superintendents' Association of the Royal Hong Kong Police Force, about special arrangements for members of HMOCS, the status of

non-British dependents of HMOCS members and sterling

safeguards for pensions?

B

C

Recommendation

2. That the Department reply, offering what reassurance we can, on the lines of the attached draft. We have consulted

the Home Office and Legal Advisers.

Background

3. Mr C J Glover's letter of 26 February is a follow-up to PS/Lord Caithness' letter to Mr Braithwaite of 8 November. This replied to a letter from the Superintendents' Association of 20 September, handed to Lord Caithness after his visit to Hong Kong last September. (Mr Glover was one of the representatives of the RHKP who called on Mr Paul last year regarding the Police pay dispute.)
