Dear Mr Broomfield
With reference to your application for Royal Air Force University sponsorship your attention is drawn to our pamphlet PAM(Air) 296 paragraph 54 which outlines the residence requirement for entry to the Royal Air Force.
I regret to inform you that the Ministry of Defence advise that they are unable to waive this requirement in your case and I cannot, therefore, continue with your present application. However, if you establish residence in the United Kingdom for a continuous period of 12 months or so, it would be possible to consider waiving part of the residence requirements. Such a move on your part would not guarantee the granting of a waiver nor, of course, your selection for Royal Air Force service or sponsorship.
Any future application for sponsorship can be made as an undergraduate through the Royal Air Force University Liaison Officer or a local Royal Air Force Careers Information Office.
I realise the disappointment that this letter may cause but I would like to take this opportunity of thanking you for your interest in the Royal Air Force and wish you every success in the future.
