We will also need to explore the issue of service with the SARG by the same expatriate civil servants, who
will cease to be members of HMOCS after 1997. This is
because we have said to HMOCS members that service with the SARG would not of itself be grounds for a bar to a frown appointment in the UK.

In the meantime, I recommend that the department should send an interim reply stating that we are discussing the matter with the armed forces here, and that we hope to send a full reply soon.
