From The Minister of State
Dear Cledus you
Thank you for your letter of 16 September to Malcolm Caithness enclosing one from Peter Leeds, Chairman of the Association of Expatriate Civil Servants of Hong Kong about the value of pensions paid to retired officers in the UK. I am replying in Malcolm's absence abroad.
We are very much aware of the concerns expressed by the AECS and, of course, we share their desire to promote stability in the Hong Kong public service in the run-up to 1997 and beyond. In close consultation with the Hong Kong Government, we are giving urgent consideration to a number of pension-related issues.
I regret that I cannot be specific about timing, but hope to be able to make an announcement in the not too distant future..
ever
Yours
