Ex-gratia Payment of Death Gratuity and
Nomination of Spouse as Recipient for Death Gratuity
25.
Staff consider that the proposals relating to payment of death gratuity on an ex-gratia basis and nomination of spouse as recipient for death gratuity could be implemented without legislative amendments. Hence they urge that these changes
should be made as early as possible.
26.
Unfortunately, the conditions governing the grant of a death gratuity and to whom it may be paid are provided for under the pensions legislations and any changes to the existing arrangements require legislative amendments. As such, the staff proposal to implement these changes administratively cannot be acceded to. However, legislative amendments are being made to implement these changes.
