I MODIFICATIONS TO DEPENDANTS PENSION AND RELATED PENSION
BENEFITS
1.
A.
Proposed amendments to the WCPS and WOPS
Participation in the schemes by the civil servants is to
be voluntary Officers in the Mod I, female officers and junior officers of the disciplinary forces may join the scheme voluntarily.
If serving single officers opt out the schemes, they may be refunded their past contributions with interest in whole or in part.
The refunded contribution will not include
Government's part of the contribution.
Married serving officers may opt to stop contributing
to
the schemes and retain past accrued benefits without refund
of past contributions.
Married civil servants who newly join the civil service to exercise option within a specific period, whether to join the W & C Pension scheme. Single officers may exercise their option after getting married.
B.
Officers who newly join the W & C Pension scheme will contribute at 3.5% of their salaries, the Government contributes 2.33%. For officers who opt to stay in the scheme, their individual rate of contribution and scale of Government contributions will remain as they are at present.
