PARLIAMENTARY LOBBY FOR HMOCS ISSUES

151

1.

You asked for information on the UK Parliamentary lobby

for HMOCS matters.

2. Mr Fish, ODA, tells me that Ivor Stanbrook MP is the

only name that springs immediately to mind. He is a paid-up member of the Executive Council of the Overseas Service Pensioners' Association (OSPA), and is ready and waiting to

take the lead on HMOCS issues in the House on OSPA's behalf.

Mr Stanbrook is likely to be able to persuade 200-300 other MPs to support the principle that Hong Kong HMOCS officers should not be left with worthless pensions.

3. Sir Richard Body MP is another name to bear in mind.

Although his specific interests do not cover HMOCS, he has been heavily involved in pension-related issues in Zimbabwe.

4. As you know, Lord Caithness has recently received letters on HMOCS matters from Sir Richard Luce MP,

Mr Colvin MP and Lord Cledwyn of Penrhos. Mrs Chalker has received a similar letter from Mr Campbell-Savours MP. Mr Stanbrook could presumably count on these people for support.
