Meeting held between Hopewell and

Government representatives from Government

Town Planner/Strategic Planning Department

on 2nd March 1989. Dr. Pryor, Government

representative comments that Hopewell's

ideas will be used in solution that goes

to open tender and that their proposal was

the catalyst that triggered Government

to a comprehensive study.

Letter from Graham Barnes of Government Land

and Works Branch to Gordon Wu of Hopewell

incorrectly states that Hopewell expressed

interest in the Project after Government's

decision to re-start the airport development

studies.

Barnes states that planning and engineering

decisions on strategic options will be based

upon results from the PADS study and comments

that Hopewell's proposals "may well come very close

to the components of the final options on which

we take our decision". However no further

discussions to take place with private sector

until Government decision as to where the

port and airport should be sited.

Letter from Stewart Elliott of Hopewell to Graham

Barnes. Letter confirms Hopewell scheme

submitted on 11th November 1986 well before

the Government's Port and Airport Development

study was restarted in March 1988 after

requesting copies of Hopewell proposal for use

in that study. Letter states that Hopewell

proposal was the catalyst for the
