U Ta Pao Airport (1990 to date)
Schroders is currently working with Louis Berger on its work for the Eastern Seaboard Committee on advising how to develop U Ta Pao airport using private sector expertise and finance. The work involves developing a structure for private sector participation, and analysis of how best to tap sources of domestic and international capital to develop the airport's infrastructure and surrounding land.
Accelerated Water and Sewerage Project (1989)
Schroders contributed to the ADB Accelerated Water and Sewerage study for Thailand, providing input on the scope for private sector participation by the private sector investors and lenders in Thailand, given the risks and returns offered by water projects in Thailand.
Bangkok Mass Transit System (1987-89)
Schroders advised an international consortium of Japanese and French companies, bidding to design, construct, operate and finance in the private sector a mass transit system in Bangkok. This work involved the development of a bid based on a financing plan, developed by Schroders. Discussions were held with potential lending banks and equity investors with a view to provision of funds.
Bangkok Second Expressway (1987-88)
Schroders advised an international consortium of Thai, British and French partners on the preparation of a bid to construct, operate and finance in the private sector the second phase of the Bangkok Expressway. The scope of work was similar to that described for the Mass Transit System.
Rangsit-Saraburi Road (1989)
Schroders advised a consortium bidding for the Rangsit-Saraburi Expressway project on a privatised basis. Schroders advised the client, Italthai and Transroute, on a project financing strategy and recommended realistic parameters for debt and equity financing.
Non Recourse Property Financing (1990)
Schroders advised a Hong Kong-Thai Joint Venture on the prospects for non-recourse financing of a prestigious office/hotel project in Bangkok, and on issues related to debt structure and currency of funding. The client is reviewing the strategy before arrangement of funding can proceed.
Schroders is shortly to undertake a similar assignment for another consortium.
