After nearly nine years as Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Baroness Dunn today informed the Council that she has asked to stand down on 1 October 1991. Her request has been accepted by the Governor of Hong Kong, Sir David Wilson.
Baroness Dunn will be succeeded as Chairman by Dr. Victor K. Fung, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Prudential Asia Investments Ltd.

After the Council meeting, Baroness Dunn said This has been one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had the honour of Chairing."
Paying tribute to Baroness Dunn, a Council member said "She has been an outstanding ambassador for Hong Kong on the international stage. Her professionalism, dedication and personal charm have won powerful friends for Hong Kong around the world."
Baroness Dunn took up the Chairmanship of the Council in April 1983, at one of the most difficult times in Hong Kong's history.
"The territory was experiencing a confidence crisis over 1997, and our principal markets were in recession, a Council member explained. Baroness Dunn helped Hong Kong ride out the storm locally and to retain business confidence internationally.
带着
Under the guidance of Baroness Dunn the HKTDC has moved forward energetically with strategies to match the new economic realities affecting Hong Kong trade.
In particular, she cemented close personal ties between the HKTDC and China at a time when the country was opening to foreign business and when Hong Kong's manufacturers were increasingly shifting their production facilities into China's special economic zones.
During Baroness Dunn's tenure as HKTDC's Chairman the territory's external trade has risen from US$ 43 billion in 1983 to US$ billion last year, an increase of 281 per cent.
