and Osaka in May and November to show Hong Kong's Spring-Summer and Autumn-Winter collections respectively. A "Made-in-Hong Kong" jewellery exhibition in Tokyo and Osaka in January 1991, featuring the products of 62 Hong Kong jewellers was also highly successful-con- solidating the territory's status as Japan's leading overseas precious jewellery supplier. Total business transacted at these three major exhibitions amounted to over HK$570 million.
Hong Kong maintained a high profile at Japan's trade fairs with commercial delega- tions organised by the Council attending all the major events. These included the International Optical Fair, Tokyo Toy Show, International Houseware Show, In- ternational Gift Show, Japan Electronics Show and Foodex '91. As part of its on- going programme to encourage product diversification, the Council took part, for the first time, in the International Machine Tool Show and the Japan Do-It-Yourself Show, as well as promoting food products at the Nishinippon International Trade Fair. Promotional stands or product dis-
plays were also mounted at the Sapporo International Trade Fair, World Fashion Trade Fair, Dynamic Asia Fair and Kobe Import Fair.
For the second year running, an Electron- ics OEM Selling Mission was organised in conjunction with Hong Kong electronics manufacturers to Tokyo, Nagano and Osaka, with the primary objective of seek- ing more OEM business opportunities through a series of factory visits, seminars. and exhibitions.
