WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM
HONG KONG FORUM
MEETING IN HONG KONG
Thursday 24 and Friday 25 October 1991
OBJECTIVES
It is in 1991 that the most significant business and political decisions will be taken which will determine what sort of Hong Kong will be returned to China in 1997. These decisions will influence the shape and character of Hong Kong, the degree of integration of its economy with that of neighbouring states, the direction of fiscal policy and banking reforms, the extent of spending on infrastructure projects and the position of Hong Kong vis-à-vis China, the region and the rest of the world.
Our meeting will be an unusually important moment to confront these issues and challenges with the key people involved. It will also be the occasion to gain first-hand insights into Hong Kong's new business climate, the political relationship with its future governing body, as well as trade and financial relations with its most important partners.
