You

will recall that I wrote to you on 18th August 1991 concerning the position of the BCCI Depositors with the Hong Kong Bank.
Lynda Chalker replied to me by fax in your abscence and I was grateful for her prompt response.
Having spoken with depositors of the Bank and having reviewed the situation I am confident that a sale of the Bank will be forthcoming but it needs strong pressure from the Government to make sure that this happens.
I was pleased with the response which I had from Sir David Forde the Acting Governor as well as the Banking Commissioner and the Finance Secretary. All informed me that they were keen to see a settlement of this issue.
I hope that you are equally supportive of moves arrive at an equitable solution.
With Best Wishes, Yours sincerely,
Keeze
