- Aware of the damage to the Hong Kong economy which
non-renewal of China's MFN status would bring about.

HMG continuing its efforts to persuade Americans to renew
China's MFN unconditionally. Lobbying at high level with US
administration and on Capitol Hill.
- We appreciate that renewal with conditions could also
damage Hong Kong (would create uncertainty which would act
as a disincentive to investment).
