In 1990, re-exports of China origin to the United amounted to HKS82 billion /119810 R

representing 34% of Hong Kong's re-exports of China origin or 20% of Hong Kong's total re-exports. 93% of Hong Kong's re-exports to the United States were of China origin. A table showing the principal product breakdowns is at Annev II. The main product categories are electrical appliances and electronics (representing 21.2% of these re-exports in 1990), toys, games and sporting goods (20.7%), garments and clothing accessories (18.4%), footwear (11.1%), and travel goods and handbaos (6.6%}

In order to provide a broader Acceqgmont of the contribution to the Hong Kong economy of re-exports of China origin to the United States, the values of all related trade flows should also be assessed. This is carried out in Annex III.

The relevant trade flows comprise the following: first, Hong Kong's re-exports of China origin to the United States; secondly, the imports from China which precede these re-exports; thirdly, exports from Hong Kong to China of the raw materials and semi-manufactures that are required for producing the re-exports of China origin to the United Stateq. and fourthly, the imports into Hong Kong of raw materials and semi-manufactures which precede the corresponding exports

to China.
