28. Maintenance. The current level of maintenance support for the UK
Garrison Brunei will continue, but it will no longer have the support of 50 Hong Kong Workshop or the general engineering infrastructure of Hong Kong. Therefore, the future Brunei Garrison will

A policy of introducing indigeneous non-operational vehicles and other equipments, combined with the local purchasing of spare parts will
ease both maintenance and supply problems.
29. Dental. The present Service population in Brunei equates to a requirement for 1.3 dental officers. This requirement is met at present by dental inspection and treatment teams visiting from Hong Kong, with emergency treatment being referred to the Shell Petrolium Hospital. Once command changes, these Dental teams should be provided by DACOS Med/ADDS UKLF. The teams should visit 4 times per year to enable a 0.33 Dental Officer equivalent to be achieved. The shortfall could then be covered by the addition of a Gurkha dental hygienist to
the MRS.
30.
Provost. The RMP provide a permanent presence in Brunei in the
form of a General Police Duties SNCO, who fulfils a community policeman role. This requirement will continue and no permanent additional police presence is required.
