helpful attitude and I followed up our discussion with a letter, a copy of which I sent to Andrew Burns. I have now received a reply from Sir Michael Quinlan (copy enclosed) which is less encouraging; but it does at least show that they are still trying to find a sensible solution.
Since all this I have talked here to the CGS, General Sir John Chapple. Attached is a record of that conversation.
