but will have difficulty funding a purchase. Its focus is therefore likely to remain on ground-attack and ASUW, with a limited transport capability.
7. Belgium. The core of Belgium's land intervention capability OOA will probably be provided by its para-commando regiment of three battalions. The Belgian navy is expected to remain focused on mine-warfare, and the air force will remain structured as a component of TWOATAF with AD and offensive support roles.
8. The Netherlands. The Netherlands will probably continue to maintain small forces in the Caribbean, the present levels including 400 marines, a guardship and two maritime surveillance aircraft. The emphasis in any Netherlands contribution to operations 00A is likely to be maritime, since both the army and air force will probably remain wholly committed to continental roles. However, the army may well retain a parachute-trained commando force, currently 500 strong. The air force, like its Belgian counterpart, will remain essentially tactical. The RNLN is unlikely to change its operational emphasis which is on ASW and mine-warfare.
