Invited by the Federation of Hong Kong Students, representatives of Chinese students organizations from 12 countries came to attend the 2nd Congress of Global Chinese Students Union. However, representatives were detained, some had been deported. We are still kept at the Hong Kong International Airport. What has happened is completely out of our comprehension. WE have the following statement.

(1) The organizations we are representing are not political, the 2nd Congress of the Global Chinese Students Union is a regular annual meeting which is not a political events. It is our belief that these activities should be allowed and protected by the laws of Hong Kong and mainland China.

(2) We believe that detention and deportation of our representative are a result of pressure from Chinese government. This shows again Chinese government's brutal violation of basic human right and rude interference of Hong Kong's internal affair.

(3) We regret that Hong Kong government has yield to the pressure of Chinese government and unable to protect the basic rights of legal Hong Kong Students organization. This will unavoidable have negative effects on Hong Kong people's confidence and damage the image of Hong Kong government in the international community.

(4) We request that Hong Kong government gives a formal explanation about refusal of entry.

We have been seeking legal procedure to make sure we are treated fairly according to law of Hong Kong. We hope you could find time to review these matters.

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Dongqing Wei from Canada, Dr. Huang Yuangeng from USA, Mr. Liming Chen form France, Mr. Hongbin Wang from France

Mr. Xuedong Zhang from Australia, Ms. Shijian Xiao from Denmark, Dr. Shen Ning from Britain, Mr. Jianguang Wu from Germany
