Whether Lord Caithness should see Mr Elliott
(ex-Financial Times, Hong Kong) during his visit to London?
Recommendation
2. I recommend that Lord Caithness agrees to see
Mr Elliott. 1030-1100 on Thursday 19 September has been pencilled in.
Background and Argument
3. Mr Elliott worked for three years as the Financial Times
reporter in Hong Kong. He reported accurately and incisively on the political scene in Hong Kong. I attach a copy of his 'valedictory' article. Mr Elliott is now taking
up a new post in the Hong Kong Government as public affairs
adviser.
