Dear form.
The Governor's Travel Plans 1992
23
Thank you for your faxed letter of 23 October.
For at least the past two years the TDC Berkeley Dinner has been adjusted to tie in with a visit to London by the Governor. So I guess they may wish to do that again in 1992. But it would be helpful for our planning purposes to know roughly when they would need to make a final decision, in terms of booking the facilities. On this subject, it would be interesting to know if the TDC have given any thought to changing the venue of the dinner. The Berkeley is, of course, the traditional location, but it is extremely crowded, particularly at the reception before the dinner.
The Governor would, in principle, be prepared to attend the Hong Kong Association Dragon Boat Dinner, if he was in the UK at the time. As you know, on present plans this is not the case. But the timing of his second visit to London in 1992 is likely to depend very much on the timing of the elections. It is quite possible that early June would be more suitable than the late April date we have provisionally blocked off. we will simply have to play this by ear until the election date is known, or until it becomes clear that it will not be held in April.
