MIFF is a draft outline programme for the Governor's visit in March 1991. You may wish to note in particular the following:

The
Lunch with The Independent's Editorial Board intention of The Independent for the (cancelled) meeting with the Governor when he visited London in December 1990 was to invite him to its office for a session with its editorial board. This fell through because of last minute changes to the Governor's programme as a result of Cabinet changes. Peter Randall is now approaching 'The Independent' to revive the idea with a suggestion that the editorial board could host a lunch for the Governor. We are expecting to hear from The Independent in the next few days;

Lady Wilson's Programme on Friday 8 March We propose that the Governor be accompanied by Lady Wilson on his visit to Sing Tao Group's European headquarters (1500- 1600 hours). After that, Lady Wilson (accompanied by Maureen Wong, AC/PA) can proceed to the London Chinatown Chinese Community Centre (1615-1700 hours) while the Governor comes to our Office for the meeting with senior staff. Lady Wilson can rejoin the Governor at our office at around 1730 hours for the reception to meet Hong Kong Chinese community leaders, which is scheduled to start at 1800 hours; and
Meetings with FCO Ministers/Officials - These are being arranged by the Hong Kong Department and we shall keep you informed of developments as soon as possible.
Please let me know if the draft outline is acceptable to the Governor and Lady Wilson.
