Hong Kong/New Zealand Air Services Agreement
1. Following sustained pressure on the Chinese over a
period of several months, they finally agreed, at JLG XVII, that two of the outstanding initialled ASA texts (Hong
Kong/New Zealand and Hong Kong/Malaysia) could proceed to signature. The Hong Kong/New Zealand text had been with the
Chinese for over eighteen months. We continue to press the Chinese for progress on the remaining five texts.
2. The Hong Kong/New Zealand text is scheduled to be signed
in Hong Kong on 22 February by the New Zealand Minister of
Transport, Mr Rob Storey and Hong Kong's Secretary for
Economic Services, Mrs Anson Chan.
