AUSTRALIAN VIEWS OF HONG KONG
1. I attach a letter from our High Commissioner to Australia enclosing a letter from Mr Justice Kirby, President of the New South Wales Court of Appeal. Mr Justice Kirby enclosed with his letter to Mr Barder two papers criticial of British policy towards Hong Kong. These are also attached.
2.
We have been asked to supply Mr Barder with ammunition which he can deploy in a reply to Mr Justice Kirby (he has already sent a holding reply). Grateful for any comments you or Mr Wye may have on Mr Justice Kirby's two papers which I could forward to our High Commission.
