GULF WAR: BURDEN SHARING : CONTRIBUTION BY HONG KONG

The Finance Committee of the Legislative Council in Hong
Kong has today approved a proposal to make a voluntary
contribution of £15 million (HK $230 million) towards HMG's
costs arising from the conflict in the Gulf. We warmly
welcome this decision.
Hong Kong shares our interest in stability in the Middle East. Their offer is much appreciated.
Are there any conditions attached?
The Finance Committee approved the donation for "logistical,
medical, humanitarian and other support facilities."
