CNTA's decision to delete the Watchman/Workman II posts for manning community centres/halls w.e.f. 1.4.91 will result in 125 staff becoming surplus. The left-wing Government Employees' Association met the CNTA management on 10.12.90 to discuss possible staffing arrangements.
With the approval of funds by the Finance Committee on 30.11.90, the various improvements to Staff Welfare Fund and disciplined services welfare funds were implemented in early December. Staff in general have responded favourably to the additional funding, which was made available in time for organising festive activities during Christmas and the New Year holidays.
