The Director of Accounting Services and Director of Audit must be informed by memorandum of any retirement notified under this Regulation.

Early retirement (see also, in the case of an overseas officer, C.S.RR. 1355(b) and 1360).

Conditions on which aremature retirement may be approved

332. (1) Section 6(aa) of the Pensions Ordinance provides for

voluntray retirement with the approval of the Governor, between the ages 45 and 55 years. The approval of the Secretary of State is also required for the voluntary retirement of an officer who was appointed with the approval of the Secretary of State.

(2) The notice required of officers is the same as in C.S.R.

327(4). Failure to give adequate notice may involve

rejection of the application or deferment of the officer's departure on pre-retirement leave.

(3) Rank and File of the Disciplined Services will usually be

permitted to retire on or after attaining the age of 45 if they so wish.

(4) The retirement of officers other than those specified

under paragraph (3) of this Regulation and who are aged between 45 and 50 years may be permitted to the following grounds :

(a) Grounds of ill health not sufficient to warrant

invaliding on the recommendation of a Medical Board appointed by the Director of Medicaù & Fealth Services;

(b) Adequate compassionate or personal grounds acceptable

to the Governor, provided the public interest is not affected in any unduly adverse manner.

(5) The retirement of officers other than those specified

under paragraph (3) of this Regulation and who are aged 50 years or more, but are under the age of 55, will normally be allowed unless the Governor considers that it would not be in the public interest to allow the officer to retire.

(6) Heads of Departments should forward any applications

received under paragraph (4)(b) of this Regulation to the Secretary for the Civil Service, through the Head of Grade, where appropriate, with a recommendation as to whether it would be in the public interest that approval should be given or withheld.
