Dear Alistair,

THE FUTURE OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL
Thank you for your letter of 21 March. I too am very sorry not to have been able to make lunch yesterday, as arranged. I had been much looking forward to it, and having now looked at your report on the Future of the Legislative Council, I can see that there would have been much to discuss.
Our meeting on Monday will be an opportunity to go over the ground in a preliminary way, but I do not think that we shall have sufficient time to do justice to the importance of the issues which you wish to raise. I should therefore like to invite you, in addition to our meeting on Monday at 2.30pm, to lunch in the week beginning 15 April, after my return from Hong Kong. At present, Tuesday 16 April, Wednesday 17 April and Thursday 18 April are all possibilities. Perhaps we could confirm a date when we meet on Monday.
Incidentally, would you be able to come in a little earlier than 2.30pm on Monday? I have other visitors at 3pm, and I doubt whether half an hour is going to be sufficient.
Yours Sincerely
Alave
