(6) The ballot box, the unused ballot papers, the spoilt ballot papers and the marked copies of the register referred to in subregulation (5) shall -

(a) in the case of delivery to the returning

(b)

officer, remain in the charge of the returning officer (who shall be responsible for the safety and security of the same); or

in the case of a deposit in a safe place referred to in that subregulation, remain in the charge of the presiding officer (who shall be

responsible for the safety and security of the same),

until polling in respect of the adjourned poll commences.".

Regulations added

The following are added after regulation 46

"46A. Adjournment of count at counting stations

(1) If at any time during the counting of the votes in respect of an election ("relevant election") under section 3 (1) of the Ordinance the Governor is of the opinion that the count or any re-count, as the case may be, ("original count") at the counting stations

(a)

is being interrupted, obstructed, disrupted, undermined or seriously affected by riot, open

violence, typhoon or some other climatic

conditions of a serious nature or by any other

like cause; or
