he may, by notice published in the Gazette or, if such publication is not practicable in the circumstances, by the publication of a notice ("substituted notice") by some other means, declare the original poll at that polling station to be adjourned.

(2) Subject to subregulation (3), the presiding officer referred to in subregulation (1) shall, either in the notice or substituted notice published under that latter subregulation or in some other notice published in the Gazette as soon as practicable thereafter or, if such publication of that latter notice is not practicable in the circumstances, by the publication of a notice by some other means, appoint a date (in substitution for the date ("original date") stated in the notice of election (Form 1) published in the Gazette under

regulation 3 or 4, as the case may be, in respect of the relevant election) for the holding of a poll ("adjourned poll") in place of the original poll adjourned by a declaration under

subregulation (1).

(3) Subject to section 3 (2) or 11(2) of the Ordinance, the date of the adjourned poll referred to in subregulation (2) shall be no later than 7 days after the original date.

(4) Where any original poll is adjourned at the polling

station referred to in subregulation (1)

polling in respect of the adjourned poll shall

commence on the day to which the original poll

is adjourned at the time or times determined for

the original date; and

references in these regulations to the close of

any poll shall be construed accordingly.
