Appointment of Legislative Councillors

Most respondents are content about the list of appointed LegCo members. They feel that the appointed Councillors are independent professionals with proven track record of community service, they should be able to provide objective views in LegCo. Some considered that the commercial interests, which is the bread and butter for Hong Kong, have been represented in the correct proportion. They can also act as a balance of power to the United Democrats.

Some residents opined that Government should consider the abolishment of the appointment system as it is not democratic enough while others felt that the appointment system, which has worked well in Hong Kong for so many years, should continue.
