April 17th. 1990.
Dear Mrs. Thatcher,
At the Thirty Ninth Annual Conference of this Federation, held in Nottingham on Saturday April 14th. 1990, the following Resolution, proposed by The Hong Kong Far East P.0.W. Association was passed unanimously by all the Delegates present;
"That this Conference notes with regret that the War Widows, Wives of Hong Kong Volunteers and Chinese Ex-Servicemen who served King and Country are not included in the 50,000 passport package now before the House of Commons, and confirms its Resolution of last year, supporting the Hong Kong Fepow Association on this important issue for residents of Hong Kong".
I respectfully draw your attention to my letter of July 4th. 1989, in which we asked that sympathetic consideration be given to this matter.
We feel most strongly that the people referred to, a relatively small number, have earned the right to a British passport by their loyal and devoted Service to the Crown, amply demonstrated during the dark days of war, and we reiterate, that the probability is, that the passports would only be used as a last resort'.
The granting of passports to these loyal subjects would meet with the unanimous approval of all British and Commonwealth Ex-Servicemen and Women.
Yours sincerely,
8th Marchrey
A.L. Humphreys. Hon. Secretary.
